What we cover

Tailored to your music.

Every session is built around what you're working on. These are the kind of areas we move through – in whatever order makes sense for where you are.

01

Workflow and Ableton fundamentals

Get fast and confident in the box – routing, warping, sampling, MIDI, devices, racks, automation and templates that get you from idea to demo without losing momentum.

02

Drum programming and groove

Building drum kits that hit, programming patterns with feel, swing, fills and the layering techniques behind club-ready percussion.

03

Sound design and synthesis

Designing your own sounds in software and on Ben's hardware – Pro-1 basses, Nord pads, Minilogue leads. Subtractive, FM, sampling, resampling.

04

Arrangement and storytelling

Turning loops into tracks. Intros that work, drops with weight, breakdowns that breathe, and arrangements built for dancefloors, not bedrooms.

05

Mixdown and finishing

Levels, EQ, compression and glue. Getting your tracks loud, clean and translating across club rigs, headphones and laptop speakers.

06

Whatever you're stuck on

Got an unfinished project? A track that's nearly there but missing something? Bring the session and we'll work on it together.

Common questions

FAQ

Absolutely. Most students start from scratch. The intro call is precisely so we can establish where you are and build from there without any assumptions.

Once a week tends to produce the fastest progress, but fortnightly works well too. Some students book intensively before a gig. There's no obligation – you book as and when suits you.

Ableton Live 12 is the primary DAW. Ben uses it for his own releases so you're learning a live, working workflow – not a theoretical one.

No. If you're a complete beginner we start from the ground up. If you already have a version of Ableton, bring it – we work in your environment.

Yes. The studio has a full hardware setup including the Nord Lead A1, Korg Minilogue XD, Moog Minitaur, Behringer Pro-1 and Model D, Ableton Push 2 and Maschine 3. You're welcome to use any of it during sessions.

Primarily electronic music – house, techno, deep, melodic and everything adjacent. The fundamentals of production are universal, so if your genre is adjacent, everything still applies.
